Inverters have the responsibility of drawing and converting the DC energy from the battery to drive the electric motor. They are increasingly employed near or attached directly to the motor to optimize efficiency.

Despite significant efficiency gains, inverters can generate significant heat. Furthermore, temperatures outside peak operating range can detrimentally affect efficiency. It is important to characterize and validate inverter performance and durability across all operating conditions.
